Strange DNA results

 I got my DNA test results at 2:10 a.m. today, and they are NOTHING like my brother Ted's results.

I was expecting some differences, but not so many! They even say that I have some INDIA Indian DNA! 4.7%, in fact. Also, in the more recent DNA, even though it is all European, there is SLAVIC in there! 

The daughter of Ted's friends said that perhaps there was a mixup, and I was sort of wondering the same thing. After all, yesterday they were just extracting my DNA, and there were 3 or 4 more steps to go through after that. 

It is all very odd, and confusing.

I keep on sort of wishing for my book, Ghosting, to go viral.  No real reason for this wish, but it stays there, even though it is highly unlikely.

I got a very nice comment from Braddah Bruce, who was the first person in Hawaii to get Ghosting!

 He said that he liked my book so much, that he was going to read it again! 😊

So nice to have such a lovely compliment! I have been feeling happy all day! 

One Good Thing

I had wonderful news recently. I found that some book company had bought five copies of my paperback. Lulu did not say who bought it, but since I only got 40 cents per book, I figured that it was a book store.

Then, I decided to just check Barnes and Noble, and it was them! There was my paperback of Ghosting right there on their page!

Of course, I got my hopes up of selling LOTS AND LOTS of books! 😸 And, of course, they have only bought the five so far. I won't know if those sold unless they run out, so buy more.

So, now I feel kind of bored today. Not much of interest on Facebook or Tumblr or Twitter. I sent off a short fiction story to one place, and a non fiction piece about not getting my covid shot STILL to another place. Probably the wrong places, but how can I afford to subscribe to tons of magazines, just to see what sorts of stories they publish???

Oh well. Tomorrow, I get to hang out in Hawaii via YouTube. And Sunday is my day to Just Read Without Guilt.

Proof copy of Ghosting

 I just ordered my "proof" copy of Ghosting. It costs about 3 times as much to ship it as it costs...

Hopefully, I like it, and will be ordering around 15 copies, to sell at church and to others.

Everything happens next week, it seems now! I ordered my big stuff from Amazon finally. And, I will be phoning the Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist, to see if he will be able to help me get a vaccination that is safe for me.

And, my book should be here in a week, too.

As for the vaccination? Seems that I will be waiting until the fall, when perhaps the Canadian ones will be out at last. Maybe I should contact that Quebec company, and ask for their help???

Vaccine problems, still

I am STILL having problems getting vaccinated. I was told by a couple of supposed experts ( a pharmacist and one of the nurses at Niagara Health) that it would be safe for me to get an mRNA vaccine after all. As long as wherever I went had one of those epi-pens. 

But, when I went to the Shoppers Drug Mart near me, the pharmacist there said that it could actually KILL me! He refused to take the risk, and, since Tarene had been all worried about me going out already, I feel that I really should not go to the pharmacy where they said I'd be OK. I cannot risk leaving poor Tarene alone.

So, here I am. The Shoppers' pharmacist said that he would look into medical clinics for me, etc. And, I feel very tired of calling and emailing people like crazy. I did email NOW Magazine about it all today, though. Hoping that they would be interested, at least. Media seems to have focused on how bad AstraZeneca is, and to have no interest in someone having a problem with Pfizer and Moderna. And, it seems that Canada will never get any Johnson and Johnson.

And, to make me feel worse (but also kind of laugh), when I told Doug Ford about it, I got a very silly email in reply. Just talking about how great they were at vaccinating everybody BUT me. And, you can't reply to them. Have to fill out a second form....

Scary Stuff Done

I put my ebooks in for consideration at the St. Catharines Library today. Sure, it is a weekend, and will not be seen until Monday. But, I did it!

I feel kind of happy! 

Premonition?

I keep on having a feeling that I will make lots of money from my book, Ghosting. 

Is this a true premonition, or just wishful thinking? 

One problem is; I won't see my e-book sales until next month! So hard to wait! 

Ghosting e-book 

                   Ghosting is now on Kobo

 My novella, Ghosting, is now on Kobo! It is a sci-fi/ paranormal romance. I drew the cover, and also put three black and white illustrations in it.

It has two Indigenous characters who meet, and once again, my timing was off! When I finished Hugo and Fluffy Tales, J.K. Rowling was getting famous. So...all of the children's book publishers were getting a deluge of children's books sent to them. My book never even got looked at. 

With Ghosting, just when I had given up on large publishers, so I was sending to small ones, that Michelle Latimer scandal broke out.

Now, no traditional publisher will touch my book, because even though I look Indigenous, there is NOTHING in my family's records of any Indigenous in us. And, my brother got his DNA done, and none showed up in his blood.

So, here I am. Self publishing again. A few people at my church were interested, so I may sell 5 paperback books or so from Lulu.com. I get a bit of an extra discount if I buy 15. Hoping to sell those, really.

I put it out on Kobo first, because I had this black and white cover done. I need to get to work on an oil painting in colour for the paperback.  Maybe I'll sell a few through Kobo, but it seems that I would have to sell 50 books to get my royalties from them!! Well, it may also work with their monthly thing, where you get paid for pages read. Just in case people don't like the book.

I have been watching lots of Hawaii videos lately. And, it is so nice to be off of Facebook for a week! I am actually looking forward to going online, so that I can drive around Hawaii.

I think that I will only go onto Facebook about once a week, after my week off to calm them down. It is so relaxing, and nice. 

I thought that I was dreading going online because of surveys. Turns out that it was Facebook that I was dreading! I hate feeling that I have to promote my art there. As if I have any art right now, anyway!

So, taking a holiday from Facebook is just wonderful!

Facebook Blues

 Facebook is not letting me "like" anything this week, so I am off from there. It feels a bit odd, but I may actually get some art done for a change! 

I will be reading more. And I love watching YouTube videos of Hawaii on my desktop. Feels like I am there! Once again, I feel like moving to Hawaii. Too bad that it is part of the U.S. 

I feel sad that it is still too chilly to sit out on my balcony. So nice to sit out there on a warm day, getting my vitamin D. 😻🌞

My stomach is still a bit off, as I get over the latest "Whatsit??" that I caught. Seems likely to have been Covid, since I got a flu shot last fall. I am still waiting to be on the list for a vaccine. I cannot get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, because I had a reaction to the stuff that you drink before a colonoscopy. I am hoping to get the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Only one shot! And, if I just had Covid, then I should be 100% protected for a year! 

Well, on to writing, or doing other art!

Mandala of Life

The poetry book that I am in has been released in many e-book sites now. I checked it out in Kobo, and did a review.
