A painting of mine will be going to the moon!

Not the actual painting, of course. A tiny copy of it on a tile on a lander. The same sort of lander that successfully landed a few weeks ago. 

These people sent people's names for free to the moon (I sent my name) along with digital copies of books. And, of course the lander is doing experiments and sending info back to Earth now.

So, the one next year will be sending seeds. And doing experiments again, I guess. 

They asked for space related art, and I had done a painting of a galaxy a long time ago. It was from an early photo taken by the Hubble telescope. So, I sent that in.

It was accepted, but the size that I chose was $1,200! I didn't want to pay that much, so didn't. Then they sent me an email with other choices. To pay $250, for a tiny pic, $550 for the medium sized, and $2,500 for not only the pic, but to be a featured artist, and go to some press thing in New York City. Being Canadian, of course the $2,500 one was a no go in these days.

I was thinking of the $250 one, and meant to transfer to my PayPal. I forgot to do that by the deadline.

Well, last night, I got another email. It just said that my work was going to the moon! So, here I am.

It was one of those things that I did, thinking,"Well, why not?" They can only say no. And here I am. I'm not going to space, but my art will be. And maybe future generations will be able to see it. (if they squint really hard) Or maybe aliens will. Who knows? lol

This is a numbered galaxy. It doesn't have a name. But it looked pretty, so I painted it.

Pretendian?

 For a very long time, from my known family history, I thought that I was English, Irish, Scottish, and Dutch.

Vaguely interesting, I thought.

But, people kept on telling me that I had to have some Indigenous in my background.

So, I began to think that I had a little bit. And, since my mother was born in Salamanca, N.Y., maybe lots. Maybe she was taken from the Reservation there by her doctor father???

Anyway, my DNA just shows Weird Stuff. One place that I downloaded it to said 1% Indigenous.

So, was I a Pretendian? 

I bought a t-shirt that says "Indigenous Ally", and am trying to not be one now. But I tend to babble about my DNA being so weird, that maybe I have more Indigenous in me....

I wish that I could stop wondering. I think that I'm scaring people off....lol 

Guess that I'm just what I always was---someone who doesn't fit in anywhere.

Spring Boots

 I have been sort of looking for boots for early spring, and late fall. Shoes aren't warm enough this time of year, but winter boots are too warm.

I went by a tiny store last week, and saw some very pretty cowboy boots in the window. They had painted flowers on them.

Since I have more money lately, I thought that I could afford the probable $100 that they would cost.

Fortunately, I looked at their site online yesterday. 

Their boots started at $300. The ones that I liked? $699.95!

Guess that I won't be buying them! And relieved that I never asked in the store. Kind of embarrassing when you can't afford something, and have to tell the store.

I am now going to go to Gwartzman's to get leather paint. I hope that the pair that I saw at Double Take Thrift Store in beige will still be there. I'll just paint  that $14 pair of used boots with flowers. 😊
